I've got a question then. Why are people so down on the 20vT route ? I understand that people like to see new ideas etc, but why not save that for the styling, interior etc. The 20vT is a tried and tested lump, it's reliable, tunable and still very modern. Are we going to be bored of mk2s with 2.0 FSI's in a couple of years time.  :undecided: I'm not criticing anyones views I'm just asking.

Now don't get me wrong, i agree with you saying that the 20VT is reliable and tuneable etc, but the thing about me is that I personally think it has been done to death in mk2s, and as an engine conversion it is too easy, and the power gains as good as they might be are just not justified. The lumps when fully tuned can push above 400bhp, which in a front wheel drive car is completely useless as it will torque steer everywhere and getting the power down just won't be possible unless you weld another mk2 to the front end to get the weight over it.

If someone was to do a rear wheel drive 20VT as a standard conversion then Kudos ( like this bloke is doing and Joe ) but tbh i am more old school than to dump all this new stuff in and then not be able to use it. I like seeing old units being used to their full potential in the old cars. Maybe just me, but from my point of view there is nothing eyebrow raising or special about a 20VT in a mk2 anymore.

LOL i dnno, just look at the roll cage, very simular to the TVR's, And the custom metal seats are very simular. When jo first brught the car out to one of the Dub shows on the back of a trailer he had attempted to fit the original TVR dash, The way it had been mounted looked very simular to the way that Mk5 dash has been mounted.....
