Got me pride and joy mk4 52 reg and have been polishing it non stope for the last month.. Keeping as clean as possible. Early hours of sunday someone pops the drivers lock, Takes everything to do with the stereo..sub, amp, cd changer :(
Thieving little gits should be shot.. Are the golfs easy to get into?? as mine seems to hve been done easily (not that i cud tell the difference) and all the electric windows came down which shouldnt have happened without the key!!
Anyways can anyone recommend a good alrm system as i cant believe VW dont fit alarms to this model for the price of them (my fault i should of got one before now). I have a budget of £500 tops inc fitting..... Want it to do as much as possible, doors locking, sensors Electricute the gits and bomb detanation would be god if possible :)
Ive had the car for less than a month and ive never known a car broke into in my street for at least 10 years - typical! Feel like cring.... please help lol
Thanks

yeah clifford have registered people who fit them, and you can even do them on a finance option and pay them monthly!
probably be your ebst bet, go for a thatcham approved one!
-
Thanks. finance sounds good too as i was going to get a lon for this. Anyone know roughly watch fitting costs for the 600... Dont know anything about alarms other than it better go off as soon as they try it again lol.
btw thanks for the quick replies :)

does your head in dont it...
if you claim on the ins as well you get a silly little pay out plus your premium shhots up so you end up paying twice... and all cause some little smack head tosser needs some pocket change...
i think you should be able to drag the lttle fekkas along behind your car if you catch em...
se how the like to be screwdrivered..

just what im thinking to weed.. Want to get hold of them but the chances are they are well gone by now.. Police say golfs are being targetted round the area for the airbags and they reckon there probably been sold to a local garage as they are worth a bit of cash. Never touched mine but i think they were scared off by something because my stereo was left on the seat so was a parcel containing 2 monitors and dvd player which i was going to post!!
-
have you ever thought about one of them smoke alarms..
made by toad i think..
as far as i know its linked into the cental locking so it locks em in then chokes em to death....
or is that just how i would like it to work...
no realy i think toad do a smoker supposed to get in their eyes and suff, make em think twice as if they are picked up by the rozzas afterwards the smoke has a uv dye in it that doesnt wash off, covers the lothes and stereo stuff...
if it dont work like that ive just given someone like sony a bloody good idea
lol

I had a clifford... hateful paranoid things... go for a toad
-
my last mk2 valver had a toad on it...
mine at the min has a clifford on it but doesnt work...
i have also heard of people breaking in and nicking clifford alarms... now how mad does that sound..
code are normaly good as well...
-
picnching the alarm haha!! not be getting that one then. Ill check toad and code out tomorrow as im off work.. Smoke sounds good.. wud prefer guns to just start shooting at them when they got in the car but it would worry me that a bullet may miss them and make a hole in my seat
Anyway if i find out who it is they are gonna love my 5 iron :) Till then its more debt for a decent alarm......

Not read through the thread so dunno if someones mentioned this, but isnt that a feature of the mk4 that if u make the right connections in the lock all the windows come down? maybe their magic screwdriver hit the spot.. :)
That sucks anyway mate, cant imagine how much £Â£ that will of cost ya! not to mention the amount of paranoia you'll have over the next few nights, slightest noise n you'll be running out in your robe waving a shotgun :P
-
exactly hypno paranoid now!! Apparently the garage said a feature of the cars central locking is that when you hold the key in the unlock position for a few seconds the windows will come down and when in the lock position they will go up.. For driver ease!! More like burglar ease lol.
Anyways im booked in for 8.30am tomorrow for the toad ai606 £250 fitted cash (i dont do VAT lol) Is that a good price??

I have a concept 600 fiitted to my golf. it's great. it's let down when it rains as it thinks my doors are open when they're not...
Clifford don't actually make the 600 anymore. it's been replaced with the 650 which comes in various flavours. Dual prox is the one I'd go for. You can always add the tilt and motion sensor if you want. They all have the option to wire up things like the headlights and boot pops to them aswell as the intellistart 4 module which I have.
We fit a toad ai606 for £300 at work.

i know there was a central llocking thing with the(now dont shhot me for knowing this) ford sapphire. when the rear numberplete light was shorted out the car thought it was involved in a rear shunt. and bingo open doors...
easy in with no lock damage...
not nice for mr normal punta..
great for the scumbag boys

i feel sorry for you man. my car got broken in at xmas and everything nicked.... i drive a mk2 though...
i had gap security fondle my 200sx done a good job as well.... i really haggled them down from £300 down to £210 and installing extra features with my clifford.
-
to be honest most cars are pritty easy to break in to with a little know how and brute force! delocking is a start but in the end if they want to get in your motor they will!
you could set up some sort of nerve gas delivery system conbined with an alarm!

My Passat was broken into like this. The wiring for the windows on the back of the barrel lock are used to unlock the car.
There was an investigation done by BBC Watchdog a few years ago about this problem.
You have th option of going to the dealer where they can fit a replacement door handle which blanks over the barrel lock.
This means you can only open / close the doors usign the remote.
Speak to your nearest dealer or to VW Customer services UK about this. All the dealers were made aware of this 'modification'
This applies to Passat / Mk4 Golf and New Beetle, possibly other models...
