Hi guys,
Another question among the many!
I have a donor 3-door Golf 2 gti and am wanting to put the rear bench and front seats into my 5 door Jetta. I understand the fronts will fit straight in - but has anybody had experience of fitting the rear bench to the Jetta at all? I did raise this in another post, and somebody did suggest taking the covers off and putting them on instead of the entire bench and back rest itself?
Also, as the door cards won't fit, is there any threads avaialble regards custom doorcards????
Help!
Si.

i haven't seen anything about the door cards, im guessing you can retrim them yourself, if u find a suitable material, but that would mean doing all doorcards from jetta, and poss seats to match... if thats the look you want?!
-
Well - I'm more likely to pick a colour out of the seats and match it that way if I do a custom job myself.
-
that could be your best bet! someone else may know more than i do... i have limited knowledge.. mines limited to pretty colours and nailvarnish....
-
Rear bench will just screw in where the golf one was before.
As for doorcards if you take your old ones along to a re-trimmer and give them a fabric to match they might be able to find the right pattern. Either that or just ask them to replace the trim with the ones off the other door cards.

cheers guys [and gal?!]
but slick, the rear bench on the jet seems totally different to the golf - there's a metal backplate for a start - and the seat doesn't operate in the same way?
can't re-trim from 3 door door cards as there's not enough fabric on the 3 door to re-cover the 5-door cards!
-
ah yeah missed about the door change. Opps.  In that case re-trimmer it is.
Rear bench will fit in the same way as the rear bench came out, they fix in in the same way but cos the gti seats will have a split they look different. There is also no support apart from each other where the split is so there is no other fixing required other than the same way you took them out but in reverse.

Am I missing something here?! The Gti Mark 2 donor seats INTO the Jetta - that's what I want to do?!

:embarassed: edited appropriately

Now I'm just confused!
So if take out the Jet's rear bench, I can basically screw the Gti bench straight back in it's place? But because there is a split, there might be no support? I guess I'll have to try it out, 'cos the jet's rear bench is actually clipped into place - it doesn't have the same fittings as the gti - no pins to pull up to release the seat down - it is fixed on the metal plate in the boot using 4 clips!
My head . . . . .
-
There are screws in the bottom with hinges on thats what i mean when i say they screw back in the same position. As for the mounting i was pretty sure that they had the release clips by each door at the top. If not then it might be a case of bodging the mounting plates that the jetta bench had onto the gti seats.
No support on the rear gti seats is because they have nothing to hold onto where the split is.

Okay,
I get it now - we're alomost on the smae wavelength!
I'll give it a bash then I guess and keep ya'll posted!
Cheers for now dude!

So I take a day off work to hit the newly acquired [if slightly grotty inside!] Jet . . . . .
Managed to fit new dials from gti [and swap orignal speedo with original mileage] , new centre console, seats out and hoovered through, dash restore all black inside [used armourall dash foam - feckin' great!], front gti seats go in [after a good clean], pressure-wash the gti rear bench to dry in the sun [yes - sun?!?!] and go in and then it all grinds slowly and hand-bleedingly to a halt!
How in the sweet name of Moses do you get the rear bench out of a Jetta. 'Cos quite frankly - I have just about had about a titful of trying.
And don't tell me to read the Haynes 'cos it's bluddy easy on paper. Pressure point on the lower lip of the bench my arse.ÂÂÂ
Please,
Help me.
Please. :embarassed:
