Post by: burna on 03 February 2006, 18:56
advice please, my mk2 was recently smashed into by an uninsured unlicienced driver. as a result its wrecked so i fancy a mk1. ive got the chance of a a reg red 1.3 cl, totally standard. will my coilovers, brakes, 1.8 8v gti engine and interior fit into the wee beastie?

mainly the coilovers and seats for now tho.

cheers guys

the engine would go, probably be more tricky if its digifant, brakes should go with a bit of fiddling with caliper carriers. coilovers, doubt it. interior, with some cutting and imagination anything is possible.

Front seats will go straight in. Engine is a no-go unless you want to weld in a new engine mount (Chris, the mk1 has different engine mounts for the smaller engine models, but I have converted an 1100 to an 1800 so it can be done) and find a mk1 gear linkage 1500cc or above.

TBH a mk1 GTI or driver would be a better donor car.
