Went down town to buy some clothes today and I saw many modded cars, most just had exhausts and alloys though... anywayz... here is the list of MODDED cars
Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 12v "R Reg" (LARGE exhaust only)
Fiat Punto 1.2 16v "51 Reg" (Full bodykit, exhaust, alloys, lowered, brows, mesh, spoiler, tinted film for windows)
Ford Focus 1.6 LX (Moulded bumpers, exhuast, twin headlights, alloys)
Vauxhall Nova 1.4 SR (usual crap neons etc)
Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 16v (bodykit with mesh and exhaust)
Peugeot 106 1.4 Quicksilver (bodykit, exhaust, alloys, lowered)
So as u can see each car except the first Corsa (lol) had a fair bit done to em... BUT... this is what im getting at: -
THERE F*CKING SLOW
The Focus is the fastest and its 0-60 is just under 11secs (10.9???), 1.2 Corsa... hmmm 14secs?
DEAR GOD WHAT ARE THEY THINKING???
And also... why are lasses just putting big exhausts on small engined cars and thinking their cool??? (Corsa 1.2 12v anyone?)
-
Its becaues of max power n the like what makes everyone think that a big bore exhaust n alloys makes ur car go really fast!Even old men with mondeos that r c-r-a-p put alloys on!
I only ever drove a corsa cos i needed a courtesy car n NEVER AGAIN.I felt like i was driving on the bonnet,i was that close to the steering wheel! Lasses only do it cos their b/f tell them to!

Maybe mummy and daddy couldn't afford the insurance on decent cars so they saved for the bodykits and extras with their birthday and pocket money? ;D

lol n totally agree!
Dinky :-*
-
the young uns cant afford the insurance, so have to buy small engined cars. then as dinky said max-em my oppo just bought a punto the insurance was 1200 pounds for an 18 year old.
-
hey when i was 17, it was older performance car and pay more on insurance!, yeah i paid a fair bit bu they was the quickest! ( hate to say it but vw's were to dear for me then! did the xr3i and astray gte thing them days!) if i was 17 no wwouls still do it!
-
LOL
theres lots of that round here too.
just on the weekly trip to the drive-thru saw a corsa, and a nova and a fiesta with stupid fin thing on it.. a rover with thats "look at a me i'm a twit" blue LED things on the washer jets.. *yawn*
we have a local outfit called "sc performance" who do a lot of the stuff for the kevs around here.. they do have some nice cars. but there are some awful ones too
-
Its because there are no more young cult cars. the powers that be have managed to erradicate anything out of the ordinary or shoved a 20k price tag on it - putting out of the reach of modders.
Mk2 are the ultimate (IN MY OPINION) cult car, but lets face it - they aren't getting younger. The Mk3 didnt exactly step to the fore to take the mantle, it sort of stumbled on the way and fell down a manhole. The Mk4 is a dozy creature who didn't know there was a cult thing going, and the Mk5 is just a waste of space. Or as we say. A BMW.
But what is todays cult car?!
Nothing.
I would love to of seen Citreon and Peugoet develop low cost cut down versions of the WRC like Scooby did and does.
Thats why I have become NISSANMAN!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

nowt wrong with the mk4 tin, ive got one, still has orig lines as the other models but more smoothed, reliable etc, got a mk2 also yeah cult classic car, but round here anything that has a golf gti badge has some kind of status, from the mk1 to the 4 and to be mk5, it all goes down to history and as long as its got gti it will be remember from the same family, bmw dont have any holds on vw yet!, mr nissan man!! lol ;D ;D :D 8)

you are absolutely right, there is nothing wrong with the Mk4, or the BMW Mk5.
but the GTI thing is over, it died at the end of Mk2s. The Mk3 tried in vain to carry it on, but they just werent fun. They were bought by old people, who thought that they could be cool like the Mk2.
People who bought Mk1 and Mk2s were different, they were standing out from the crowd. When the Mk3 turned up, the crowd wanted to stand out. And thats what happened.
but as i said earlier, the GTI thing died. Even VW gave up on GTI and made a VR6 which set the top of the marque apart. And from there - the GTI badge was compromised.
Are you knocking NISSANMAN? ;D ;D ;D ;D;D ;D ;D ;D

yep knocking nissanman ;D 8) what ever you think is your opinion, the gti still lives on, in what ever form , whilst people love them there will always be one, wether its a mk1,2,3,4,5, or what ever, when peeps have got em they love em, ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Can't have red ones might get a few tarts mistaking the neons for a place of work. :D
Have to admit when I was younger I did like the blue neons under the cars that cruised about town. Thats when they first came in though. Sad I know but I was young at the time and usually drunk. When Guildford Cruise didn't have all the police about and you could race each other. Those were the days.

nono, the spirit of the GTI is dead. its now being paraded around by money men to sell a few extra cars. its a corpse being dragged behind the cart of whichever manufacturer decides to name a car GTI. they drill the pedals - quick call it a "GTI". they put an alloy on it - it must be a "GTI". the interior has a carbon fibre panel - quick lets rush to slap a "GTI" badge on it....
i agree, that we shall agree to disagree though in this case.
-
yep we'll disagree to disagree on this one!lol :D ;D :D ;D
not gonna start a war as to which is best as all gti fans love there motors and there all GTI's in there eyes.
-
GTI as a "cult" is dead ... cos they cant continue to make tin boxes (no offence to mk1/2 owners) they build better cars, ones that protect the driver/passengers in crashes etc... those old Golfs didnt, mk3 started it, heavier, bulkier, but VW forgot to add more powerful engines (until VR6) and then mk4 VW introduced the Turbo 'era 150/180bhp engines and the V5/6 and recently R32.
Now from "inside news" as I have family in the VW trade... VW are designing a new range of "GTI" type cars... just like BMW use "M series" VW are using "R Series" as being showcased by the R32 at the moment.
So, its being said, that they'll be
Lupo R
Polo R
Golf R
Lupo ive heard might get the turbo 150bhp engine
Polo probably the same or perhaps a V5 engine or summet
and the Golf is gonna keep the 3.2 R32 engine but up it with the mk5 to 250Bhp or summet like Renault did with the Clio V6.
This is still "rumours" but it also has a substantial base as well... so "R Series" will be the fun/cool cars and the GTI badge will be like the "SPORT" badge on a Lupo....
Anywayz, back on topic...
Someone said young'uns cant afford insurance on "performance cars"... I have a mk3 GTI 8v (as U might know) ... not the fastest car, but a helluva lot quicker than any Pug 106 quicksilver and Corsa 1.2 .... I can afford it, bought it when I was 18... why cant they? (Im NOT on ?25,000 per annum either)...
*Note to the single ladies 16-21* Im on ?24,999...come get sum... lol j/k
... Id rather have my rather standard-ish GTI 8v than a heavily modded 1.2 Corsa
-

I remember when there were fast golf n fords(i know us don't like em but they r better than novas n corsas). Then it was about speed, not about whos car looked the bluest with neons or whos big bore exhaust sounded the loudest!Whats gan on?They r all going 4 looks which means nowt when u hav a s-h-i-t-e engine!

I don't know. If the mk5 GTI is anything like predicted I may have to add one to the stables. The pic I saw was tornado red 3 door with the new 2.0 FSI turbo lump. 200bhp. Of course I'll always have the mkII but that mk% looked alright and has to be more GTI than a MK3 8 valve.
I had a primera that was a good car. the ex's sunny is proper sh1te! :)
-
Oooooo, I had a corsa courtesy car a while ago...ragged the sh!te out of it!!! And me mate Rob taught me how to do a good wheelspin!!!! ;D
-
I saw a newish clio with all the usual fibre glass bits all over it but it was resprayed in pink with glitter thru it and it was bloke driving it.
-
Sounds lie he may bat for the other side.
