Title: insurance renewal time
Post by: TIM20 on 01 February 2006, 22:52
My insurance is up for renewal in the next few days, elephant have quoted me £600 tpft, im 22 nearly 23 with 2years ncb and have a 1991 16v gti.

I have read the insurance quote thread but prices vary loads, guessing due to home area etc.

Just wondered if this seemed a good quote or should i get off my arse and ring round???

Tim

I'd get off your arse and ring around if i was you!!
With elephant i would be paying around £900-£1000 tpft and that's as an 18 year old with 1 years ncb, so would have thought yours would be less to be honest?

Just realised you said 16v, i'm talking 8v so might be about right in that case!

Tim,

I posted on this earlier in the week and would highly recommend giving martinb a PM or a call ( 08451 266366 ).....he works with HIC/Golf+ insurance and they are very competitive I've found....also, he's a top bloke!  I don't work for them....just found the service to be very good and happy to recommend if it helps get you a cheaper quote :)

Cheers,
Duncan

cheers for the comments duncan, much appreciated! Will have to see if i can get yours even cheaper if you carry on!

As duncan said tim, if you want me to have a go for you pm me your number and i will have a look, for a 22yr old with a couple of years ncb i would expect to be able to do you a deal! Forum members even get a discount!!

Hope this helps

cheers

Martin

OK... At 29 (license held 2 years), and golf GTi being my second car (so no-no claims bonus) I was quoted........
£1372.00 by ADRIAN FLUX hahahahahahahahaha....
and thats what I said to the chap on the phone... hahahahaha... just before I hung up.
So my next place of call was HASTINGS DIRECT, who laughed at that quote and said... hmmm £632.72.. I said.. a bit better.. but I will carry on looking... Might have to sell the GTi.... '88, helios blue, new respray.... any offers?

Try the post office car insurance for a quote as they are giving a £50 postal order when you start a new policy and my mate said they gave him quite a good quote. I think the deal ends in march...........
