You don't mind if I ask why in the hell would you want to?
-
because i need a replacement for my mk2 1.3 and ive been offered a MINT 1.3 from a polo rally cross
-
Is it not worth looking at something a bit larger? 1.3 is an awfully small engine to pull a Golf MK2. And I'm not being a GTI snob either! You've got the choice of the 1.6 or 1.8 driver engines or the 8v or 16v GTI blocks to shove in there, obviously the driver engines will be easier, but all can be picked up for little money.

I would love to and i get asked that all the time but i really cant afford the insurance on a 1.6 as im only 17.. although it maybe a 1.3 its been roling roaded at 92 bhp
-
it should drop in fine, all you do is transfer MK2 1.3 mounts to the Polo engine :)
-
let us know how it goes mate, a ripping 1300 golf sounds like a right laugh!
-
ye will do but unfortunatly that engine aint for sale as hes keeping it but he does have a rebuitl polo gt engine with manifold and down pipe so i sed i woud have that off him!

polo gt crank & pistons and a polo gt carb in a standard 1272 golf engine will produce a decent horsepower figure. i think it was quoted in pvw as 100ps????
-
the mk3 polo engines are good, i had a coupe 1 litre for abit and it was faster than the 1300 golf i had before it, i think it was single point injection tho
