Title: please help buying a golf gti but the rev counter or computer does not work

Iam just about to buy a vw golf gti mk 2 h reg, but the rev counter or on board computer does not work, has any one had the same problem or is it an expensive job ?, email craigiefor@yahoo.com

if it's just down to the clocks then they can be picked up 2nd hand easily.

It can often also be a case of a bad earth wire which is easy fixed too.

Take out fuse 21 for 10 mins and then replace,worked on mine when battery went flat.I think it resets the internal memory.

check the earth lead from the rocker cover to the coil bracket, wihtout it the clocks will throw a wobbly :)
