Title: Headlights not working
Post by: MackyM on 27 January 2006, 22:01
Not all the time, but sometimes I only have sidelights - then for no apparent reason the headlights come on - not a fuse in other words. Is this a common one? Is there a simple place to look for a fix. Thanks all.

There are no relays for the lights :)

First thing I'd do is swap in another headlight switch.  But beware the early MK2s had a different switch which will not work in your car, just check the switch you try has the same number of pins as the one fitted to your car :)

had exactly the same problem a while back. totally baffled me. in the end i found it was a loose connection on the back of the indicator switch/stalk. check that!

Thanks both - I will give it a go. Bulbs and headlight wiring are all fine I know that.
