Title: hammer time
Post by: weedwhacker on 26 January 2006, 19:01
nearly put a hammer through the windscreen of my cabby 2day..

bought a set or rubbing strips for mine cause 3 were missing when i bought the car, also i bought a set of clips to fix the strips to the body work. whats teh problem you ask
ill tell you

they dont feckin work

there is a small pin in the center of the clip that holds the clip to the body work, acts like a rawlpug that you would use in a wall.
only you need to push it into th ehole on the wing or door, push the pin in then when you do you cant get the strip to fix to it.
ive tried belting it with a hammer, pushing it with my hand, ive even talk nicely to it and asked it to stop being a sh!te.
but alas my car now has white plastic acne..

does anyone know a simpler way of attaching em cause im looking at filling the holes in and de stripping it now.. cause they are being a tawt.

Sticky sticky lol

I think you put the rawl plug and pin on the strip then just tap it in, tap tap tappy tap! then they won't come off easily, the clip expands when you push the pin in to hold them in and on. I think not done it personally. :)

thats what i thought but when you put the clip on the strip it pushes the pin out thus expanding the clip then it doesnt fit the hole.

it well confusing.

what about sitting the plugand pin in the hole lining it up and then hitting the strip onto the plug and pin fixing and fastening and staying put?

done that as well, still aint playing ball...
im realy bending the wings as well... if i hit it any more im gonna dent it..
well confusing.
its just letting water in and rotting the bottoms ofthe doors out..
might see if a body shop can do it..
admitting defeat on this one.

there are different sized clips (wheres the light bulb on head smiley ) i think they're colour coded - they probably used different ones on the various trims, i've got some red ones here that are far too big for my trim, mine takes black ones which are about half the size

press the pin into one of your clips as if you were attaching it to the body then see if it will fit into the slot -  :nerd:  if you look at one end of the trim you should find its shaped so the clip can slide in quite easily :smug:
