Hi, I want to lower my golf gti 16v and am looking for a suspension kit that lowers about 35mm. I want to spend around £200 for shocks and springs. I had a GMAX suspension on my last golf which was alright but seemed to lower it more than 35mm and speed bumps were a nightmare. I was going to go for coilovers but for the FK Highsport your talking around £450 and I cant bring myself to pay that much when I`m probably gonna set the rideheight and never alter it again anyway? Any advice people or an idea of where the cheapest places are?? Thanks.

you can fit eibach springs on their own.some people will say you need to change the shocks but eibach themselves say theres no need. i've had them fitted for a year now and the original shocks are still fine. they lower the car 40mm and ride quality is hardly changed at all. they cost about £150.

I'm currently looking at the Eibach springs and Koni adjustables setup for my Golf too, but need advice on a few more questions before i go ahead with the purchase:

The Eibach springs should retail at around £130 if you look around your local tuning garages, this site: http://www.awesomegti.com does it for £99
There are two ranges in the Eibach brand, Sportline and Pro-kit, i think you would want to go with the Pro-kit springs (less lowering than the Sportlines).

Thanks for the help lads. I am more than likely gonna go with the eibach springs now as a lot of people have recommended them. Monkeyalan, I think I have the original shocks still on and my cars done around 70k which is when the shocks should be changed anyway isnt it?? While I`m doing the springs I might aswell do the shocks aswell if theyre due anyway.

you may aswell change them if you'll have to do them soon anyway.

I'd go for the Eibach Springs and Boge Turbo Shocks, had them on my last 2 golfs and think theyre top notch for the price!

I've had the boge turbo shocks and the H&R springs. Ride comfort is good and is great on the bends now. Just remember the cost of tracking and camber setting(£40-60), top mounts(vw £38) and rear bump stops(vw £10-20) as they are likely to need doing.
