i fancy a black ummm, ceiling? and the piller trim, or dark at least, could i get away with taking mine out and spraying it or is it easier to just find some out another golf and change them? how easy is it to take apart?
-
i reckon if you cant change your dash bulbs you might find the same problems doing this.
-
Ha Ha! I reckon he's got you there!!
-
haha, nice, its not that i cant change them, its that i simply dont want to, i like my blue ones now theyre there, surely its all just screws and clips?
-
Plastic screws, and bungs, clips etc. Some Gtis had black roof linings as standard. Like mine, so might be worth going to a scrappy and ripping some bits out.
-
I helped take a roof lining out a few weeks ago, fairly easy really u shouldnt have any problems, like slick said go to a scrappy and get one from there

tin of hammerite black paint. Sit inside and carefully paint it all black. Helped a friend paint his capri roof interior was pretty straight forward

all gti's had black interior trim, anything under a gti was cream/beige/grey etc

The black roof lining is only available for models with a sunroof, so if you don't have one you're out of luck :(
Headlining is held on with clips and all the interior trim, handles, sunvisors etc. Its also glued on arround the runroof opening, some care is needed here to make sure you dont rip it whilst you remove/refit.
One thing to remember, is the 3 door B pillar trims (behind the doors) are held in with clips, once the seatbelts & levers are removed push the trim UP towards the ceiling to release it :)
The C pillar trims are clipped to the car and just pull off, as is the trim along the roof by the tailgate. You'll need to remove the parcel shelfs to get the c pillars off, which is a good plan cos then you can replace em with black GTI shelves at the same time :) While you're there get the boot side carpets as well, it cleans up the boot no end with em fitted!
Edit: If you are planning to fit one, I'd remove the old one first before you go to collect the replacement, its VERY fragile once out of the car! Theres a 3 door MK2s with the black headlining in my local scrappy down in Wokingham, but you'll need to come and get it :)

I say you're a cheapskate for not getting a GTI  but its a difficult job, well, my mates beetle headlining was hell.
-
if i could find a GTI as mint as my driver than i would get one, but i dont believe there is such a thing
-
there are lots about, but you have to be patient and be prepared to pay a premium. Either that do what I did and buy a banger for cheap & spend 8 months trying to fix it
-
uh yeah, if you spend 8 months trying to fix a car just imagine how long it would take me!!!! i`ll be patient but i quite like my car at the moment, i forgot how much fun driveing was when you dont have to sit with an idle or 4000 which looks and sounds very embarasing, plus its hard to drive when letting go of the brake makes you speed up, so now its all fine (and faster, not to mention smoother than when i had that weber) it may be worth keeping it, theres no hurry after all
