mate its a piece of piss to replace the ones in the clocks, i have mk2 clocks in my car, just take the dash to bits (which can be a bit of a norse!) get a hynes manual aka the bible!  then get the clocks out, then you can just unscrew the little bulbs get some new ones from the dealer ship and bobs ya uncle, bung it all back to gether then bin the other lights! oh, check your fuses too you may have blown one?  :undecided:

fair one dude, well you could pick up a switch from halfords, then put a wire from the live side of the battery (make sure it has an inline fuse close to the positive terminal say 10amp) to one side of the switch then run a negative to the battery and that should do it, you can then place the switch where you want it!

Drop your fusebox down, you'll find a spare grey/blue wire with a spade connector which goes live when you switch on your lights, use this :)

Stop being so damn lazy, just fix it properly:

the bulbs for the dash you don't need to get from stealership, can get em from any car shop that sells bulbs (most i think)
one of mine doesn't work! so i got the bulb just need to put it in!

don't mean to be patronising, but you haven't got the dimmer turned down have you?

spade connecter on fuse box, i`ll use that i think, so do i just cut the wires fron the thing that plugs into the fag lighter then connect them to the spade thing with a connecter? im no better at electrics than i am at mechanics,

NOOOO im not taking that thing out again, i only took the facia panel off and it was so hard to squeeze it out and also connect the speedo cable, grrr, and i lost 3 of the screws to so now when my car vibrates it makes loads of irrating noises

and no its not the dimmer because the lights on the heating thing still work, i do have SOME sense woman,

You will probably find that the replacement bulbs you have got dont actually fit. They may look the same but when you come to fit them you will find that they are not and are a b!tch to get to work and even then they are a bad fit. Best get them from vw to be sure. Or replace the crappy standard bulbs for LED's and have a mega bright display like

Go on.... do it properly you know it's the best way! As for missing screws, go down the local scappie and have a few fall into your pocket. Take a few spare for the future too!

You're looking for a grey/blue wire with a plug on it back there somewhere, I'm 90% sure I had one hangin about back there when I had my fusebox off.  If you find it, check it with a multimeter/test light to make sure it gets 12v with the lights on!

The other thing you could do is chop the grey/blue wire off the stereo ISO plug, as no modern stereos use this feed anymore.
