So then what have your standard mk 4 turbo and mod mk4 turbo have left standing at the lights
just trying to get a rough idea how quick they are as the nice sales man wouldnt let me floor it when i took one for a test drive
cheers!!

I would imagine with mods, you can easily get to Leon Cupra R / Audi S3 performance levels.
-
Standard, the 150's & 180's aren't that quick at all. Would get beat by:-
Pug 306 GTi-6/Rallye
Clio Williams/172/182
Civic Type R
Honda CRX (V-TEC)
Focus ST170 (vs 150) etc, etc.
& that's just in a straight line!
However, luckily, they can be re-mapped so they can reverse all of that.
150's > 200 bhp (approx.)
180's > 225 bhp (approx.)
Unfortunately, all of the above handle better than the Golf, so you'd have to look at handling mods as well. Anti roll-bar, suspension, etc

lol yeah think the 1st thing im gonna do is get it re-mapped!!

Then it should keep up if not beat the above cars!!

Deffo. Before I got mine re-mapped, the order of my mate's cars & mine, were:-
CTR (Performance exhaust & Filter)
GTi-6 (Filter & Superchip - my old car)
Golf 150
Now it's:-
Golf 202 (Just)
CTR
GTi-6

the salesman wouldn't let you floor it!? LOL
I went into VW. Said I wanted to test drive a R32 (mk4 one couple of years ago now). he took my details and asked what I was looking for and how much I wanted to spend. the usual banter. We then went out in the car. he drove a few miles and pulled over. I jumped in and canned the arse off it. He said easy boy. I said this is a test drive not a take it steady it might break drive! If it's going to break when I drive it hard I dont' want to buy it. he shut up then!
