after speaking to a few guys in work i am going to try something called kurust and then zinc prime it fill it and then paint has anyone got any experience of using kurust or any advice

Kurust is a good starting point for surface rust. Make sure you remove the flaky stuff with sand paper or something so it can work on the rusty stuff. Make sure you get rid of the rust before you start painting or it will all come back again so repeat with the kurust. Take your time with spraying it and do your prep with increasing grits of wet and dry for a better, smoother finish.
