Hi
Just wondered if anyone has any ideas about this. I cant lock my Golf at the moment because every time i do after about a minute the alarm starts to go, completely randomly. Ive spoken to VW who want to connect it up to their computers to diagnose for a ridiculous fee so just wondered if anyone has ever had similar problem.
Thanks

It may sound like a daft question ,but does your rear washer work OK .
Because if the washer hose union that pushes on to the wiper spindle comes adrift ( as well as other places  ) and therefore washer fluid can leak on to the micro switch in the tailgate latch mechanism which can end up corroding the switch and the terminals in the plug that in turn can cause false alarms . :nerd: , (I have come across this problem countless times on mk4s) .
P.S. When I questioned it with VW technical some years ago they said it was due to people using non-genuine screen wash that would clog up the washer jets where as if they use genuine VW screen wash the problem would not occur ,but I can't say that I totally convinced by this argument :undecided:

^agree
although sometimes your rear washer may appear to be working okay but still leaking onto the lock mech. worth checking.

Check all your door pins (on the A pillar usually) press them in and the interior light should go off after the obligitary 12 second delay! also boot and bonnet pins, Is anything blocking the two little bulges on either side of the headlining??
-
You can turn off the interior sensors by pressing that little button on at the bast of the B pillar. that will help narrow the problem down.
