With standard ride height you wont have a problem but you will look like your driving a monster truck. Id stick with the 15's mate.

mk2s handle and ride better on 15s. however it is possible to put 17s on but then you cannot lower them much without doing some serious arch work to them, also depends on the ET of the wheel.

I'd beg to differ, due to the fact that I'm on 17's at the minute. Indeed you won't need any arch work as standard, but if you're gonna lower it more than 40mm then you will. If you pick the right wheels and have a decent suspension you won't notice a difference in ride.

Also some people say that MK2's are slower with 17's, I can see the math, but I think the difference would be negligable at best.

At the end of the day it depends on what you like my man. I can never make my mind up between these 5 spokes and my BBS!

I cant justify it coz its only an opinion but Id stick with the 15's and drop it more. Depends on the styling of the car but thats how Id go

certainly not! quite the opposite in fact. Its all about the overall effect of your car and if it works and you like it then who cares! Small wheels, streched tyres, scratchin its belly on the road, small bumpers, nice and smooth! More commonly refered to as the euro look!

da daaaaaaa

Big wheels were only made to make up for lack of thingy size anyway!

(im on 17's btw and that is a joke)

Whack it in the weeds, although not too much cos you don't want to rip your sump apart.

it's a sad state of affairs when people feel they need to point out a joke.  :undecided: :undecided:

Nah it's an 8v mate. Wouldn't want to be ragging it everywhere like a valver :) (Only joking you 16v ppl) And what's all this "pants being a 5 door" business all about? Everyone knows they're the best kind. At the end of the day it's what you like. I'm not a big fan of huge wheels (I know I'm running 17's, but these are about the only one's I like!) and I'm not keen on cars being on the belly either (speed bumps you know?).

In fact if I didn't have these wheels I'd probably be still on my BBS. Still might on day...

Whatever you go for will be cool, and no one on here will rip you for it. Not seriously anyway. Or at least not to your face.... :) :)

nah, dont worry, was started a good few days ago.

yeah theyre good lookers, same colour as yours too right? Personally i prefer the first one but im not a major fan of ats cups anyway. Theres lots of lovely wheels out there but bbs, borbet a's, design 90s and ats cups seem to be gettin more and more common. Its up to you how ambitious you wana be as to wether you try somethin a litle different.

mine's on 17's with a 60mm drop with major arch work and it still rubs like f**k! No G60 arches yet!

I think about going back to 15's until I see my reflection in a shop window or see someone else driving my car and it looks the bollocks.

Brad this is purely my opinion, but I think your's seriously needs lowering. scared cat comes to mind. :)

mk2's are defiently slower on 17's it's a fact. But then again I think they look better. Slammed mk2's on 15's look awesome too!

Yeah, fully in agreement about getting it lowered. Am thinking of a 40mm drop, I don't think I'll get any more without arch work, and I don't like em too low!
