gazb......
i rang up vw harrogate today they say to check the switch the temprature sensor and the steering wheel it will be a diagnostics which is 41 plus vat however if u carry out the work after teh diagnostics they knock the 41 plus vat off the final price...

they claim the demister switch is £14.14 , sensor in bumper is £20.15 and then the sterring wheel is 520 quid they said that if the cover is poking out a little bit u need to replace the dam thing, or it fails MOT, however they cant be sure if it can get pushed in untill they look at it..

worst case scenario ill get a air bag sytem including module and the metal thing  from ebay there on for around 150-200 depending on luck then get them to fit it which they quaoted around 150 plus VAT as they need to take dash board out and program the thing too, what do u think u cant really pay a price for safety so was thinking instead of leaving it go down the ebay route buy a second hand one that aint been triggered and get em to install what u think mate????

vw wont install second hand or non dealer-supplied parts to your car mate, fluffs the warranty.. you'll have to go to a regular mechanic/vw specialist for that.

thoguth it was weird vw advertising ebay

If the switch and sensor come to £34.29 then just buy them and take the gamble.  It seems pointless to me to pay £41 for diagnostic when you can fix it for £35. :undecided:

i wud love to but i wudnt know where to start withthe sensor what to do how to fix it also to change the switch u need t take the air vents off and get ure hand down the back of it again it seems difficult as it involves delicate screws that i dont want to loose or break, also i may scratch the dashboard

The lenght of time a job will take depends on your individual ability, as for how hard it is to change the cluster just look in your boot

Easy to keep black clean mate, leave the car in the garage

There are no guides that i can see on the net, just common sence when you open the little door in your boot lining to reveal the lights.

There are guides on here on how to code your keys, I have never done it tho, some people say it works, some say it don't :undecided:.  Try your best and good luck
