when steam comes out of the vents when you put the heater on ona mk1
been told it could be bearings in the blower fan getting dry. sounds a little funky tbh
looks like steam.
any thoughts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

are you shure its steam not smoke
if its steam could be water leaking onto the hot heater matrix from somewhere lol

Yeah i'd check that out mate - i've been driving mk1's 10 years and never heard of steam in the car - I used to get a bit of smoke a while back, i ignored it hoping it would just go away (as you do ) it wasn't til i nearly passed out at the wheel i thought i'd better investigate, turned out i had little crack on my downpipe and so every time i stopped i was getting exhaust gasses coming in through the vents  not recommended, stick with the bud its a much nicer buzz
Back on the steam i've just had another thought...... it could be one of your washer jet pipes leaking water into the blower as it lives just below the washer jets - also whats the state of you're scuttle tray (the big bit of plastic at the back of the engine that covers your wiper mechanism etc...) if thats cracked water could be getting to the blower that way :undecided:
