easily possible, i'd just get another light from a scrappy, cut it into the roof making it as neat as possible and run the wires on top of the headlining. i'm not sure if you could wire it to the existing light or if you'd have to wire it to the fusebox or the switch on the door shut which controls it... cant be that hard though...

I will give it a go, and see what happens, can you put higher wattage bulbs in to give a brighter light???

not sure but you can get multi led ones from www.ultraleds.co.uk and these will be muchos brighter, think they are called 'festoon' bulbs?

edit: like these:

The MK2 actually had an opotion to have rear lights, you can still buy em from the dealer :)

You could also get an illuminated passenger side sunvisor too at one time, but its been discontinued now.

Why do you want a rear light though? Is it to make the car brighter generally, or to make the back brighter too? If you just want it brighter you can always put extra bulbs in the light unit. I did this, along with a delay, and its like daylight in there now :D

If you only have a small light, or dont fancy that, then any 12V light will do! Either do as been said previous and get a light from a scrapyard (or new) and pop it in. Or go to a caravn shop :D They have an assortment of 12V lights, fluorescent and everything!! You could wire it to either the existing loom as joe said, or get some switches for the rear doors? Not sure how a 5 door version works, if it works with all doors, or just front!? Assuming yours is a 5 door ;)

its only a 3 door, but it is too dark at night to get my daughter into her car seat without a fight! I'll maybe try the led route first see if it makes a difference.

Worth a try i suppose! The method i chose, as pictured, makes the front of the car really bright, but doesnt help the back a huge amount!

I found that LEDs wern't as bright as proper bulbs!  Problem with jmallows method is it  only works if you have a car without a sunroof, theres no way you can fit more bulbs into the sunroof light

Passats have a light in the back as do MK3 Golfs I think. Both plentiful in scrappies :)
