Title: 60 or 80 mill springs??
Post by: BobbyT on 21 January 2006, 18:15
i have been unhappy with the drop on my golf since i had it done last year, i had a 30m bilstein kit fitted which is a good ride and holds the road fine but it just isnt low enough! now as i am spendding a bit of cash on the engine i dont have the cash for coil overs so i am thinking of getting some different springs, i have seen some spax ones and they do a 60m or 80m drop! now i like the thought of 80 mil as the car will look slammed! but i am not sure if this is practical, what do you guys think? maybe the 60 mil ones are a better choice?  :undecided:

80mm will be fine as long as you don't run over a rizla.

The first of my mark 2's was lowered 80mm i ripped my splitter off a few times, had it 55 before then and it was fine to be honest, so to wrap up ..... 60mm

Yea should look a bit lower like, although from my experiences it never looks low enough at the back when u lower it, even tho my driver was 80mm it was low at the front but not at the back, well not as low as i wanted to be honest!!

I am thinking about putting standard springs back on my valver when i get it back up and running, as it started knocking a bit when it was low, and it kept sticking when i put full right lock on!

i know what you mean, the back looks higher than the front! but i suppose its the extra weight at the front that does that!

^^^^ yours seems to sit just right looking at your sig but mine (the pic on the right) is where it was lowered 55 mm and suffered from the same trait!!

i would be carefull going 80mm if just springs on your standard shocks. I have been told going this low just using spring will put loads of strain on your shocks and significantly shorten how long they last apparently.
