Title: 16v Rev counter all over the place

Help, my rev counter on my 16v mk2 is bouncing all over the place, i have checked wires to coil and they all seem to be in place

any ideas?  :smiley:

possibly voltage regulator the little 3 pin black part on the back of the clocks, does your fuel and temp gauge work ok?

or a loose connection on the plug / plugs under the clockset.

actual fuel and temp guage work perfect, but mpg on mfa computer is all over the place ,it can read anything up to 99.9 mpg

I would put my money on the Hall effect sensor in the dizzy. That usually seems to be the culprit. Better off getting a rebuilt dizzy as they seem to be a bit fiddly to fit. Hope this helps.
