Title: what makes a KR 16V engine rev on start up?
Post by: Deefadog on 20 January 2006, 13:04
Got a strange cold start problem, everything has been tested and replaced, head sensors, WUR, Accumulator, fuel relay & pump, leads, plugs, alternator, battery, injectors etc - mixture and fuel pressures are spot on!

Basically from cold it will struggle to start ( it will turn over fine), once started it will rev at around 100 rpm, i hit the accelerator and it idles fine, i can turn her off staright away and re-start and she starts on the button (nothing has had a chance to warm up), no problems! i can tuen of and on all day, she starts fine, leave over night or all day and the same thing happens

Any ideas? I am at a loss :(

Did your inj get checked or were they replaced? If they weren't changed i would poss go for them. Has similar prob with my 16v. had them fully checked at camco held pressure to 4bar. But lad at my work said they leak of when turning over causing hard start. How i checked tried to start first thing in morning as soon as started turned off car and pulled out all inj they were wet (leaking off) Will run sh!te when started as it has then over fuelled. I replaced all inj sorted.

Getting somewhere! the 5th injectors is not firing at all (that explains alot).

Now, how do i rule out a faulty injector or is it the elctircs or thermotimeswitch?

On cranking i get 3.4V, once she starts there is no voltage!

Any ideas?

Bump :)

Also - Can someone please tell me if the black wire on the cold start valve is an earth? if so i have checked continuity between this and the earth on the battery! and there is none. Should it be a constant earth or is it switched earth of some kind?

Just trying to figure out if the wire has broken somewhere
