Title: lights around heater dials
Post by: golfpro on 20 January 2006, 11:33
should my heater dials light up when my lights are on? because they dont!

I imagine they should. Is there a bulb that i can replace or a simple way to sort tis out as i cant see them in the dark. I can find them with a little fondlin but would like to get them to light up green like the rest of my interior lights.

Any help greatly recieved guys (and girls)

yeah, it's a tiny bulb. it's a pain to get to. you have to remove the dail surround, undo 4 screws, remove the dails, etc. i can't remeber exacltly but it's pretty obvious once you get going.

yup exactly what alan said.. i did mine not long ago.. i think i put the green collar with the tongue thing in back in upside down as the centre dial lights up ok, but the other 2 dont light up much anymore.. lol

is it just a clear bulb that goes in there then? It should light up green right?

NO NO WAIT ! , you don't need to unscrew anything to replace  the heater illumination bulb on a mk3 !
All you need to do is pull off the center control knob and you will find behind it a clear green plastic bulb holder that clips into the center of the middle knob ,
just unclip it ,pull the knackered bulb out, fit a new one in and then just refit in reverse order . JOB DONE

I borrowed this link from another site,  this file tells you how to change the colour of the lights , but shows with pictures how to get at them .
