I have insured my 8 valve GTI with Esure for 2 years now and this years quote was ?460 fully comp no claims protected, Nice I thought that'll do but when I told them I recently fitted a K&N Induction kit they basically said take it off or cancel your insurance we don't insure modified cars. P*ssed off I thought right so away I went for quotes everyone was ?100 quid dearer!!!
eh ???
So does anyone know where I can get a good insurance deal? If not does anyone wanna buy said K&N? 2 months old any reasonable offers considered.
I'm well p*ssed off!

nuff said.
They insured me on my GTI 8v when I was 18yrs old... nobody else would go near me.... and they did it for just over ?850 (I was a named driver) damn cheap!!!

Tesco p*ssed on every other quote I had. They did the same for my wife and for my previous Focus ST170. You can apply online too.

For godsake go to a broker. They have access to hundreds of different policies and are experts in any getting a good price regardless of the specifics.
I just got insured through a broker for my VR6 for ?855 fully comp when Tescos and Priviledge were all ?1300.
By picking one or two yourself will just be a lucky shot. A broker will find you a good deal from hundreds.

Name a good broker... ???

Quoteline direct got me my ?855 fully comp on the VR6.
The cheapest before that was Tescos at ?1300.

I find it hard to believe none of you guys are Club GTI members!?!?
If you are you should know about Greenlight Insurance. They are brokers who specify in modified VW's especially golf gti's. They will charge no extra premiums for mods except chipping! And for my 8v they were ?600 cheaper than Tesco who had been my previous insurer.
They have excellent customer service and you can contact them on 01277 263030

You don't have to be a club gti member but if you are you get a discount as well. The company they got me insured through are Highway insurance but i don't think you can contact them direct and Greenlight find you the best deal.

The answer is simple. Just don't tell the insurance company you've fitted it. It can always be removed before any claims are made :)
