Title: Steel Heaven or not?
Post by: TanK_VW on 18 January 2006, 17:16
I have seen the steel wheels on several mk1's and i love the look.  what do they look like on the black mk2? or should i find something else?

does anyone have any pics of a mk2 on the steels?

Ive colour coded the insides of my steelies! Black car with Black steels and a polished lip. Looks sweeeet my man!

Check my sig! (They arnt my steels on but you get the idea of what it'll look like)

If you want to leave them silver they still look cool, seen a few Mk2's with G60 steels on and they look subtle!

Any bodyshop would be able to do it, shouldnt cost very much  :undecided:
Preperation is the key my friend!  :nerd:

Edit: my mistake, i just spoke to my mate who works at audi, he wasn't going to charge me VAT on them and put them through at cost aswell.  so worked out cheaper than e-gay. Soz.

i bought some standard steelies at a knock down price as they had some decent tyres on them

I had just intended to use them as my winter wheels but liked them that much they will be a permanent fixture.

When the better weather arrives, they will be getting sprayed black to sit on my standard Tornado Red 90 spec 8valve.

Cheers

Are htese wheels different to driver wheels? they look similar, or is that just me :D

nah there, 15's with different sized holes and i think a bigger lip on them

'Driver' steels are 14 inch diameter with round holes...
'G60' steels are 15 inch diameter with triangle style holes... Dish is same i think?!

If you ever see G60 steels and Driver wheels next to eachother you really can tell the difference!

So what would my 8valve 90 spec have rolled out the factory with then ?

Assuming the buyer was tight and didnt pay the extra for the bbs.

The steelies I have mentioned earlier must be the driver type based on the explanations above.   But hey,  I still like em' and thats all that matters.

Cheers

8v's came with 14" steelies i think (same as Driver). If im right in saying the 16v's came with BBS wheels, or were optional extras?!  :undecided:
