Whats the common signs that the head gasket has gone?
-
thick chocolate milkshake type stuff in the expansion tank and oil filler closley followed by a sudden loss of cash from the pocket
-
mayo under the oil filler cap, balls of oil in the expansion tank, a loss of compression on the cylinder head.
-
to be extra sure your gasket has gone. mayo at the bottom of the dipstic and lots of it. yum
loss of water, smoke out the exhaust. blaa blaa blaa all we ever do is talk about blown gaskets on this forum
-
only if you've got a mk2  us mk3 owners just talk about abs failing, relays blowing, leccy windows sticking, random engine cut outs.........
-
you forgot to mention icebergs

thats because everyone panics at the sign of a bit of mayo in the cold weather, or reads that someone elses has gone so theirs MUST be on the way out!!!
-
Car overheats damn quick, I'm talking 5 - 10 mins max and the blowers blow out cold air on the hot position.

you forgot to mention icebergs

Thats seems to rule that out then. Pheeeww!
Ots gone now? Maybe I have over compensated for the leak by over filling??????? :nerd:

Martz, if all you had was a bit of mayo on the cap then dont panic, it's more than likely just condensation. I actually get mayo on the cap of my camper sometimes and that's air cooled !
