Title: Which alloys?
Post by: Chantuz on 15 January 2006, 16:55
I'm trying to decide which alloys would look best on my Mk 2, however I don't now which to go for. Has anyone got any ideas of which alloys would look best on it??? Plus the colour doesn't seem to suit much...  :undecided:

Preferably looking for deep dish and relatively cheap!

click me (http://search.ebay.co.uk/borbet_W0QQa10244ZQ2d24QQa39698ZQ2d24QQa41397ZQ2d24QQa6ZQ2d24QQalistZa3801Q2ca6Q2ca39698Q2ca41397Q2ca10244QQcatrefZC6QQcoactionZcompareQQcoentrypageZsearchQQcopagenumZ1QQflocZ1QQfposZKT153TUQQfromZR10QQfsooZ1QQfsopZ1QQftrtZ1QQftrvZ1QQga10244Z10425QQgcsZ1820QQpf_queryZborbetQQpfidZ2601QQpfmodeZ1QQsacatZQ2d1QQsadisZ200QQsargnZQ2d1QQsaslcZ3QQsbrftogZ1QQsoZShowQ20ItemsQQsofocusZso)

loads for sale, postage should cost no more than £50 tops, and there are a hell of a lot of 4x100 sets to be had, very cheap, although bewary as a lot of people will be ghosting auctions so that the price is raised as it is beginning to move towards show season.

Wheels in my sig are un-identified. The closest i found to them are the same wheels as were fitted to Golf Countries, although i never found the name of them either.

I have something special planned for mine though so keep your peepers open at Gt springi fest

i know it aint everyones cup-o-tea, but ive recently fitted a set of

ET20 7*15 ATS Cups on 185/55/15

the dish is superb, and only needed to file off 3mm off the plastic rear arches...

I agree with joe when it comes to the a's. I was set on some for the 3mer til iv seen so many on other cars. Gettin so popular now. bbs splits always look fab. Expensive i believe but oh so worth the pennies. Alternatively like bulk said, brok b1s

I think although the deep dish jobs look good, they have been done to absolute death. I personally have a set of fox racing alloys, best way to describe them is they look like hockenhiem R's, sit pretty nicely, even though its not lowered by much at the moment.

I have thought over long and hard about what wheels are different but would really set my mk2 off, (its atlas grey too)

Was even thinking about entirely black wheels, but photoshoped it, didn't look right, some reason normal alloy seems to look kinda dull and too close the the colour of the car.

I even considered white for a while, but was talked out of it!

I would be tempted by G60 steels, or if i could get them, banded steel wheels, heard they weren't too safe, or an mot failure or something

Personally im a sucker for wheels that take more effort to fit. I think a flat faced wheel in the shiney variety really suit mk2's im not into all these BBS wheels and Brock's n stuff. Here is my top 3 or 4 not in any particular order.

90s look goooood what are the bottom ones are they porker rims to. I also like some of the Audi n
Merk rims that look nothing on the big cars that they were intended for but give em a good polish and they look the business on a golf........

No no no! You've got it all wrong! You don't want alloys at all. There expensive, curb easier and are a security risk. What you want is some lovely steelies of a Polo, then some lovely Halfrauds wheel trims (gold are best, and 3 spoke's that show all your rusty steelies through are the dogs).

LOL Don't be silly...I would hate my car to look like a chav had modified it  I wouldn't submit my baby to that!

Thanx for all the ideas guys, was a lot of help. Love the alloys on yours Mk2GTI2.016v but they would only look good on a nicely polished black car as you've so rightly proven.

I would still appreciate some more ideas, I've decided that I'm only willing to spend around £500 coz bascially I'm not made of money lol and need to get the rest of the car sorted and looking nice.
