Title: ...didnt work...
Post by: Chugadub on 14 January 2006, 17:49
well, i spent this morning bypassing the bypass valve with some copper tube, and then flushed out the whole coolant system till it was spangly clean. an then got all the air out of it.
an it still dosnt work!
i dont know what else it could be now, my heaters are really poor, looking round the site ive tried flushing system, the valve and the thermostat is fine (i think).  :undecided:

anyone got any other ideas?

Could it be the matrix?

I really should get mine done, but am waiting till march to do a full dash/heater swap from a mk3/mk4 or polo or corrado

run the engine with the water cap off till the radiator fan kicks in

should bubble like a b!tch

now...take off a heater matrix pipe so allllll of the air comes out. Once the water flows nicely then it should be sorted.

make sure someone fills the coolant bottle while you do this

also make sure the heater slider is on 'hot' when you run it up as this seems to help prevent air locks...

gets the air locks out quicker. There are two pipes going to the matrix. loosen one/take it off till the water flows nicely. Thats why u need an extra hand to topup the water level.

Now shutup and dowit (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v63/speedydub/smug.gif)

Will be interested to know if that works for you, as my heater has been pants since i did the headgasket on the motor. Tried just about everything except the above!.
