I want to put a bigger(say 3") bore straight twin trim exhaust onto the exsisting bent downwards twin backbox. Is this possible if I were to cut the ends off ?
I don't really want to replace the backbox as it's the original VW one. I would rather add a piece of trim to it. Is this possible ?

Go for it! can't see why not. Are you going to weld it on?

Nah, the cheap option. Those that screw on as a trim ! The roar with a proper system doesn't appeal to me.

i put them on mine. the biggest i could fit were about 2.5 inch. they look ok but unless you can find stainless steel ones they go rusty. when the backbow does go i'll get stainless ones welded on a new one. can't be arsed with all that noise either.

when i got my car it had the twin pipes but they were under the bumper i wanted them to stick out a touch
so i made some carbon fibre sleeeves to go on     ÂÂÂ

Cool. I never thought about carbon fibre ones ! My exaust already sticks out that far so i could actually get away with cutting off the rounded ends and pushing on some 2.5" stainless tubes.
