just wondering what peope think of these?? was going to get a 1.8 t but cant decide between the 2, please help??
-
Depends what your after really. If you want economy and decent performance then the deisel is the one. But if you want a highly tunable monster then the 1.8T is the one. If i had the choice id go 1.8T.
P.S the 110bhp tdi can be chipped to 130bhp easily.

I'd go for the petrol mate I've bought a tdi passat to tow my caravan   But really miss my 16v golf   I find petrols more involving, tdi is the way forward but not for me yet   Will be getting new petrol again soon

There is also the 150bhp gttdi which is also chipable to a very respectable bhp rating. It would no doubt give the 1.8T a run for its money if not beat it, off the mark. Might be worth going for that model if you really want a diesel.

I've just bought a 110 GT TDI and am very pleased with the performance. No doubt the economy will be good too, have only done 60 miles since purchase!

TDI's come in 90, 100, 110, 115, 130 and 150
the 115, 130 and 150 all have 6 speed boxes. :nerd:
all depends on your budget really.
about 8K will get you a tidy 130bhp

I only had a max of 5K to spend. That gave me quite a good choice of 110's but only the odd 115 or 130 and no doubt they were priced that low for a reason. Maybe if I'd waited a bit longer something would have come up but I needed a car and had already looked at quite a few as it was.
Watched a couple of 150's go through the auction at £6400 with ony 70K on the clock but they must have had a hard 70K, they reallly did look tired and abused
-
i've noticed that.
Looking for a GT TDI myself, 115 or 130 but good low mileage ones are around the 8K 9K so i got a little bit more saving to do
Did you get yours through an auction Rich??
-
No, everything in the auction was just coming up to 3 years old so too expensive. I bought mine from a Trader near Luton.
-
looks like a trader is where I'l lend up getting mine though finding a good one in Wales is proving rather difficult!!
Half of the decent ones are miles away and i ain't got the time to go and look

My old one was probably one of them!!
I got shot of mine on 68k after two years, and 3k miles later the camshaft failed. The garage said it looked like it had been thrashed to f*ck.
A car of mine? Thrashed to f*ck? With my reputation?
-
i fancied a diesel but there is no point for me with the millage i do
i only manage about 7k a year
1.8t all the way
-
its decided going for the 1.8t, going to av a look at one tomorrow!!!
