Title: Mk3 1.8cl performance....
Post by: takethefifth on 10 January 2006, 18:49
Hi, i've popped over from the mk2 bit to see if anyone can help with a question from a friend of mine..

Now after selling his dirty cavalier he saw the Mk3 at a good price so got it. We were just wondering if anyone knew if there where any easy ways to unlock a bit more power from it. Obviously exhaust, air filter but I know on the Mk2 you can put Gti camshafts in 1.6 drivers and the like.

Could you, on a mk3 for example, put a gti exhaust on the 1.8cl? or camshaft? or anything like that?

Nice one thanks all

exshaust should be a good fit, well i know the back box is, don't know about the cam side of things, butI'd just do the easy things first.
Is it injection? if so get a proformance chip.

it'll be the same engine as in mine. The 2.0 8v gti cam fits, but don't know if it's any different. The main restriction on this lump is the throttle body. If I could work out how to remove it I'd have it enlarged!
