Title: 16v starts then dies???
Post by: MK3GTIDAMO on 10 January 2006, 13:35: hi had my 16v for 2 weeks now and its been fine, i no its needs a service an the breathers cleaning out, but this morning i had to go out an my car fired up fine but when i had to fire it up again, it firedÃƒâ€šÃ‚Â up then cut out, i then tried it again and it was fine, but i have just been outside to try it again and it fires up then shuts off after 2 seconds, an it keeps doing this :angry: ANYONE GOT ANY IDEA WHATS WRONG COULD IT BE MY IMMOBILISER? CHEERS DAMO

Post by: Judderi on 10 January 2006, 13:54: If it keeps reving then its not the imobiliser. Sounds more like a problem with your idle control. 1st thing to check would be the ISV idle stabilization valve. Make sure all hoses are secure and give it a clean with carb cleaner.

Post by: Daz... on 10 January 2006, 13:55: Try checking all of the connections near the throttle body first...mine done this a few months back and it turned out to be because one of the connectors was covered in crap...a good blast of wd40 got most of it off and its been alright since..just a thought for a first thing to look at Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â :smiley:

Sorry Ben....not trying to say your wrong...just thought that would be worth checking.. :wink:

Post by: Len on 11 January 2006, 15:19: Check the breather hoses. The ones that feed into the air filter. Had the same problem and mine was a hose.
