hi had my 16v for 2 weeks now and its been fine, i no its needs a service an the breathers cleaning out, but this morning i had to go out an my car fired up fine but when i had to fire it up again, it fired up then cut out, i then tried it again and it was fine, but i have just been outside to try it again and it fires up then shuts off after 2 seconds, an it keeps doing this  ANYONE GOT ANY IDEA WHATS WRONG COULD IT BE MY IMMOBILISER? CHEERS DAMO
-
What do you mean by cuts out? Does it stall? Does it cut out if you keep the revs up?
-
i tried reving it when it fired up but it revs then dies.
-
If it keeps reving then its not the imobiliser. Sounds more like a problem with your idle control. 1st thing to check would be the ISV idle stabilization valve. Make sure all hoses are secure and give it a clean with carb cleaner.

Try checking all of the connections near the throttle body first...mine done this a few months back and it turned out to be because one of the connectors was covered in crap...a good blast of wd40 got most of it off and its been alright since..just a thought for a first thing to look at
Sorry Ben....not trying to say your wrong...just thought that would be worth checking..

cheers guys but it wont stay running for longer than 2 seconds if i rev it or not?
-
i doubt its the ISV.. my moneys on a dodgy electrical connection or the coil

Check the breather hoses. The ones that feed into the air filter. Had the same problem and mine was a hose.
-
ok ill try that later today len... cheers

ok all sorted had a new coil fitted, new ignition switch, new vacume hose and its running sweet again
