Hello Tony,
Good choice of car mate!
Stu
Cheers Stu , the car came along totally by accident ... was in fact looking for a 2.0Gti :undecided: !
but ... so far im very chuffed with it ... and the more i read on it perhaps is the better choice ?
regards Tony

My wife has got the 2.0GTI, I do like it, but it uses more petrol and is a fair bit slower. The turbo is nicer to drive long distances aswell because the engine noise is less obtrusive at motorway speeds.

Welcome to the club, mate.
You've accidentally bought the right model, then,
& when you're bored of the pace, £475 will get you another 40-50 bhp!
-
welcome mate!!
Congrats on buying what you weren't looking for
Good choice though mate cos you would have traded in the 2.0 after about half a mile down the road

WOW !
thanks all .... havent received so much of a welcome since i thought id won the lottery !
but still.... yeah still loving the buy !
and already looking at buying some more horses for the car ... but first of im putting it in for a service next week
Having owned a Ford Cougar V6 for 3 years i already see some areas where the 1.8T falls on performance ... but dont get me wrong ... i wouldnt change back
thanks again everyone ... roses well received !

Unfair to compare a V6 to a 1.8T, but you can gain some more oomph quite easily on the 1.8T engine, it's a very tunable engine. Start off with about £500(ish) for a remap and you'll be pushing around 200bhp no probs.

Welcome Anthony.
Another silver one! Son in law has one thats had some minor tweaking (176 bhp) and that goes quite well.
