can any body tell me how low I can go with on coilovers with 14inch BBS ra's. I want to keep my car driveable, with no scrapping?? sugguestions please
thanks

probably 70-80 mm but you need t look out for the wishbones beginning to point upwards and how low the sump is getting as you really don't want the sump to split.

ok. how much arch will I have? my mate had his mk1 slam 100mm, but that was undriveable. too much scrapping

Not much at all. Ideally the optimum drop for a golf is 40mm, the ideal balance between comfort and handling, but hardly anyone does that now.
Mine is only dropped 55mm and hits on things like speedbumps etc on the front bumper etc, but never scrapes when i wang it into corners.

does the bottom scrap over speed humps?? thats one of the main problems, especially living in london. U say doesn't scrap round corners?? is that with people in the back??
-
mines dropped 110mm and it doesn't scarpe on much, but then i don't drive it over speed humps, multi storey car parks etc. when i had it on -40mm springs it used to catch on stuff......
so i guess i'm saying if you ant it low you can have it low but you'll have to take more care when driving it. ;0
