Ok.
MG state their beloved ZR 120 can hit 60mph in 8.7secs.
VW state their beloved GTI 16v can hit 60mph in 8.7secs.
Both weight roughly the same.
MG ZR = 115bhp (as according to all magazines) or 120bhp (to be fair)
VW Golf GTI 16v = 150bhp (As we all know)
... 120 vs 150bhp
same 0-60???
who is MG kidding?
Oh, and btw
MG have/had a leaflet out stating...
"ALL OUR MG's ARE FASTER THAN GOLF GTI's... EVEN OUR 1.4"
so basically they say a 1.8t 180Bhp anniversary is slower than a 1.4 LMAO
but to be fair, whats faster?
VW Golf GTI 8v mk3 Vs MG ZR 105 (1.4)
105bhp vs 115bhp... roughly same weight again...
>:( >:( >:(
damn U MG and ur lies.
-
All of their MG's are faster than Golf GTI's, faster to the f*cking scrap heap the tin pot pieces of sh*t!!!
-
Try telling that to the people I work with.
My old man had a Rover 25 1.8 steptronic... and well
It rattled
Bits fell off
It had a piece of wallnut just "stuck" to the dash, like an after thought
It was noisy.. Engine AND wind noise
It had a Rover badge EEEEWWW
....it was a shed... and it was sooo cheaply built

Travel the world! Ask each person you see this question.
Most will say MG Z What?
In the seventies MG made bloody good fun brittish roadsters. The MG B is a dream of a car! Me dad had one when i was a nipper. The day MG introduced plastic to replace crome was the same day they stopped building decent sports cars and gave us stupid beefed up rovers! Forward to today. Take an average family rover (Sh!t built, even sh!ter looking and powered by a match box) bolt on some chicken wire, a wing on the back some fancy lights, brushed alum dash and a whole heap of other odd BM bits layin round the garage and i give you the ZR.
In a word - They are poo.
MG know this hence ridiculous advertising statements like those mentioned! MG rest assured that nobody that knows anything about motors looks at their advertising or buys their cars, especialy anyone who has owned, driven or even looked at a Volkswagen!
They make their money from a "certain type of person" eh hmm...
-
Well .. i have drove the MG ZR 1.8 last year for test drive .. apparently to be honest they ain't quick as my golf gti mk 4 1.8 20v non turbo ! Even it only 125 bhp.
The worst thing is i am deaf and i could hear the dashboard rattle and the door card look it gonna come off when i close the door ! But overall the the look of the car look nice ! Even my wife like it ! Nah...
VW RULES ! Yeah ;D
-
If I put my 'ol GTI 8v against a ZR120 what'd win?
straight line race.
-
You'd win the style contest hands down. You'd also win the intelligence contest for not buying a sh*t car in the first place. And you could race every day of the year. His car probably wouldn't even last a year ;D
-
rover..............they may be british but they don't make them like they used to.
they just make plastic throw away pension chariots.
so fart in your friends general direction and taunt him at every opertunity.
does he wear brown brouges and biege socks? :o
-
call me unpatriotic, call me what you like but British engingeering(at the moment, hasn't always been the case) is nothing compared to German engineering. Thats just the way it is, i don't understand how the mg is as quick with less power and a similar weight?
-
Yep, funny thing is his girlfriend who I work with (who has the ZR120) says that mines ancient cos its a "P '97" reg.
So I just say
Golf Mk3 = 1992 released
MG ZR = Rover 25 = Rover 200 = 1994
LMAO
-
I have to correct a 0-60 time
MG ZR = 8.6secs
Golf GTI 16v = 8.7
So they claim the ZR is FASTER!!!
HAHAHAHA
They'll say its quicker than the Astra GSI next... in fact
check this
Astra GSI 16v = 8.3secs to 60? summet like that 150Bhp
ZR 160 = 7.5secs approx
HAHAHAHA chuckle ..
-
I've heard the mg build quality is a bit dodgy, is this true?
-
If the definition of dodgy is "Things fall off whilst driving" then its true ;D
-
Like i heard then. I heard the paint quality is really poo as well.
-
Like I said in the first place then 'quicker to the scrap heap'
why are we even discussing this?
since when was MG a byword for build quality?
-
I brought it up cos of a discussion at work....
I needed to just re-assure myself that the ol' 8v still had Poise, audasity, credability and respect
*I liked those words, I'll use em more often* 8)
-
I heard that if you take a new MG upto 85mph on a straight, empty road late at night it will start to shake. A light vibration at first, then a more violent lateral motion. As it hits 88mph exactly you will here a deffening bang and be blinded by an intense flash...
The car will leave just 2 flamming tyre tracks up the road...
You will find the rest of the car scattered accross a 2 mile streach of hedge row!
-
^ mwhahaha
-
Is the car not just close geared to give a it a decent 0-60 time? whats the top end like? 110? 115?
-
117Mph i think
-
Ive got to say i love my golf and i have had a mk 2 16v that was quick but the mk 3 8v (my current one ) isnt ,i realise speed isnt everything build quality makes up for performance but i wouldnt be surprised if mg done it for acceleration
if you want speed try a citoen bx 16v 170 bhp pick em up for ?500 frightening
-
Yep frightening to look at ;)
-
Id buy the Citroen BX if I was ... say 45... but im not
:-*
-
yes and made mostly of plastic
