I want to run the lead for a Kenwood iPod adapter unit from the back of the headunit into the glove compartment, but I don't fancy dremmelling a hole through the top of the glove compartment with it inplace. I've had a look and it appears to be held in place with a load of screws, but don't want to start pulling that thing out as I don't really know what's going to be hiding behind it. So, am I on the right lines? Can I remove the box, dremmel a hole, and screw it back in? Will there be enough of a cavity behind the dash to run the lead down that far?
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

it is, cos i got an imobiliser switch behind mine, but i dunno how to get it out...
why for do you need ot run it into glovebox? can't you bring it out in centre console?

I dunno I just thought it was the perfect place to hide away the dinky little square control box and also so my iPod is out of sight. Also I didn't fancy pulling out the centre console

leave it and run or manage without taking it out!!!! run away from the light!!!

they are very difficult to remove, i tried once and was prewarned to how hard they are. my corssovers are installed in it and i managed to do it while it was still attached.

Tis true, pain in th'arse, try running it through the bottom of the centre console as there is loads of room there.

The easiest way is to remove the two hinge pins by sliding them out and remove the lid from the backing shell, then just go round and unscrew this without the lid getting in the way of the screws.

So the general consensus is that this plan of mine is a total nightmare? Awesome.
The stupid thing is I got the full Kenwood iPod package for Christmas off my girlfriend. New headunit and whatnot. And she offered to pay for it to be professionally installed. "Nah, piece of cake" I said, in a manly voice. f**k me, what a tool I am sometimes...

The glovebox is easy to remove and is no hassle at all, only involves removing screws. Can't get easier then that.

I'd choose to have it in the centre console, as its more easily accesible when driving, and the centre console is easy to get out. It's only held in by 3 screws, then pulls out backwards (easiest if you knock it into 2nd). Plus its quite a deep space so is generally out of view if you tuck anything right down in to it.

Centre console is also good as theres a nice hole already there to feed the wire through. feel up in the console at the top and you'll see what i mean. might need a little bit of opening out with with a file.

Centre console is the best place....thats where my alpine iPod adapter is...

I beg to differ. Its a nightmare. Yes its only some screws holding it but getting it out completely is a right royal pain. I had to remove some screws that held the dash and pull down on the metal bar on the bottom of the dash while swearing and cutting myself to bits.
