Title: best place for a switched live?
Post by: MrDan on 05 January 2006, 21:10
Hi there, just come to fit a new stereo into my mk3 8V and the wiring behind my dash is a bit of a mess (immobiliser + various other projects) from previous owners, and i have a very flaky live and no switched live, iv run a new live from the battery but was wondering wheres the best place to hijack a switched live from?

the only thing i can think of is the heated rear window switch?

Any ideas?

You should have a switched wire for the radio on the mk3 which is a BROWN wire with a RED TRACER through it ( 0.5 ) this is switched live when the ignition is turned on and should stay live ( even if the ignition is switched off ) until the key is actually removed from the barrel..
