are you planning a sytem that looks good or do you want something that sounds good???
-
sounds good it is not a show car it is for more pleasure

personally i would go for:
6.5"comps in front running off a 2ch amp
1 10" or 12" sub off a decent amp
i currently run this but have 2 10" subs running off a 2ch class ab bass amp and the quality is excellent has put some a lot more expensive systems to shame.
what sort of budget have you got?
-
the budget is the stuff that i have at the minute as no job right now but have 2 interview today and tomorrow so lets hope but i do have 2 X 15 inch subs would one of them be any good ?? there are in boxs to so would not have to make anythink there

-
1 15" and 2 8 inchers in the boot....
-
were would i put the 8 inch and would they be sub or mid's ????
pete
-
soz, 8 inch subs, but it'd end up being a custom boot build
-
theres no reason you cant run both 15`s if you want to its just bigger subs lose a bit on sq but setup right they can still sound very good. or you could just run the 8" subs it all depends on what sort of music you listen to really.
8`s are great for real fast punchy stuff where the 15`s are better at dropping real low:)
-
would the 8's go in a box or on the shelf ???
pete
-
what make/model are they?
unless they are designed to run freeair then stick them in a box
-
1 15" and 2 8 inchers in the boot....
AAAAARRRRRRGGHH.......don't do it, they'll cancel each other out, and apart from that, sound sh1t!
Get the biggest size you can up front (16 or 17cm) and power them with a decent 2ch amp, and then either a single 10" or single 12" in a sealed box (depending on what kind of music you listen too) powered by a mono amp, therefore sending a complete low frequency signal to the sub. Try not to read too much into the whole MAX WATTS figure as they are more than likely to be inaccurate of the amplifiers power. My Genesis profile 4 is only 4x75w RMS, but when bridged powers a set of Focals a treat.
With the set-up you've mentioned I would bung 3 of the 8" subs in a sealed box being run off of the big amp, and run the front set-up of mid-range and tweeters off of the smaller amp. I personally wouldn't bother with the other set of mid-range speakers as you can mess up the sound stage something rotten.

got to agree with lewy here. Not a fan of rear speakers as they bugger up the sound stage. 2 or 3 of the 8s in the boot off the big amp and the front speakers off the smaller one, job done!
-
so i would need to take the rear mids out too then can i put the amps under the rear seat's or with they overheat ????
pete
-
Leav them in but just dont wire them up. If your having to make a box for the subs anyway why not make a little something for the amps too?
-
I would consider a 4 channel amp for the fronts if going for components. Reason being you can bridge the channels for more power to start with and then gives you the option for going active (directly powering the mids seperate from the tweeters with the correct frequencies).
And as Lewy said, don't run a 15 with a couple of 8s, stick with the same model and size subs if going for more than 1.
-
right then i will have the the 6.5 and uprated front and a tweeters in the front and 3x 8's in a box now what size MDF to use 12mm for the front ?? and 18mm for the box ?? what is the carpet stuff that covers it called do i need to get it for a radio shop or a place like motorwold ???
pete
-
think its called carpet tbh  han from here works for motor world, im sure she will be able to help ya but i would think ul find some there. look on ebay tho, might find something thatl do the job cheapest there
-
just drawing some plans for the box do i make a single box for the 2 sub's ??? do i make 2 box's and glue them together to make one box ??? or do i make two box's to go in the gap between the wheel arch and boot ??? and would i be right in saying the subs need to face the rear of the car so the sound hit the back and the rolls forward if you know what i mean lol
Pete
-
why only run 3 subs? you have a 4ch amp if it is 2ohm stable run 2 subs off each channel:) then you can run 2 small boxes.
i would only use 12mm for box really as 8`s arent going to flex it.
-
If a couple of 8s are in a box and you feed em high power then definitely use 18mm
12mm is fine for the front mate.
In terms of how many subs you put in a box, it depends where the box is going to be, you will need to build the box to the sub manucturer's recommended size.
-
my friend is getting rid of 4 x 8 inch Rockford Fosgate which are air free if i got them and put them on the shelf would they be better then 3 x 8 inch in a box ???
Pete
-
i prefer boxed subs personally:)
if you r buying why not just get a 10 or 12?
-
i am not buying them i can have them for nothing if i want them so needed to know what is better
pete
-
ah ok i would still say sealed
-
cool a box it is then the last question on this the 3 subs in the box which is the best way to wire them up ???
do i join all 3 speakers together or wire them individual to the amp ???
