Title: weight in a mk3 gti

does anybody know how heavy a mk2 1.8 8v driver is compared to a mk3 gti 2.0 8v as my m8 has a mk2 that seems faster than my gti, just wondering if anybody knows why his is faster, cheers
oh yeh apart from the exhausts the cars aint been modded etc,....

Figures I've just robbed from www.carstats.co.uk

Mk2 Driver:
Weight: 938kg
0-60: 11.5s
1/4 mile: 18.4s

Mk3 8v GTI
Weight: 1150kg (no sniggering at the back)
0-60: 9.9s
1/4 mile: 17.5s

Straight line performance doesn't seem too far apart but he shouldn't be getting the edge on you, more vice versa
