Title: *How do you fit a rear spoiler?*
Post by: ANT_1 on 03 January 2006, 15:56
my mk4 gti didnt come with one and i like the look of the subtle ones...

how do you fix it? i dont want to use adhesive as it tends to fall off in the rain, or on the mway! ive seen it happen!

is it a drill the glass body shop deal?

My other half has got a 2.0 Gti with a factory fitted spoiler. I'm not too sure if it's bolted on in the middle, but each side wobbles slightly. I will take a closer look at it tomorrow and let you know.

Also, another point to bear in mind is that the factory ones have an indent in the middle so that the spoiler does'nt hit the aerial when you lift the boot up...but i reckon after market ones would have this aswell.

ISTR on another car i had with a similar arrangement it was a VERY stick double sided sticky tape.  Need very steady hands, coz once it is stuck, it'll be a bugger to move.

BTW, how much do they cost painted?

I asked my mate who's a sprayer and he said about £40-60 depending on the prep needed
