Looks like a stone or something has smashed one of my inner spots and the lens has a nice hole in it, I've rang GSF to get a replacement but they say they only do them up to 1988 as the grill changed after that, hmmm, not sure about that one, :undecided: so my question is, does anyone know if there really is a difference in the grill/inner spots on a cab up to '88 and after. Also, does anyone know for deffo if mk2 inner spots will fit on a mk1 cabby ? :undecided: Thanks in advance.

ii have the same hole in one of my inner spots  sorry i cant help ya tho gibby!

Honestly i dunno mate, if anything did change i can only think it would have been how they were mounted, and possibly the connections on them. If you can hold on till the end of the month i will take one of mine out when i come up. Then we can see if they fit.

Just had a look on ETKA mate, and i cannot remember your reg, but i looked at 87 and 88 reg, and the inner spot hasn't changed at all, so GSF are talking rubbish.

Hi Gibby
All the mk1 cab inner spots are the same - GSF are talking crap. I might even know someone who might have a set - I will find out cost for you and come back
-
Thanks all, I'm just waiting for a price from ECP, VAG want loads for them and I think looking at ECP's website they will be about the same price as VAG. Si, let me know if there are any about for sale and how much. Slick, I'll PM you my reg number and if you could look it up on ETKA for me that would be great, although VAG did say there was a chassis number change on the spots, but the VAG guy sounded like he was struggling to me.
MOT is up at the end of the month and I'm reckoning that it's going to be one of those MOT zany japes where if you have something it's got to be fully working etc, but if you aint got them it doesn't matter. Maybe I should go single badgless grill for the MOT !

Doubt it's the same size Han as mine looks like someone's blasted it with a shotgun.
-
you could actually remove them both and go through the MOT without a problem, same old if they are not there then they cannot be tested. You have the main driving lights so the spots are not officially required.
-
yeah.. mine was a crack in the glass till i put me finger thru it.. i was just testing to see if it would stay in place... obviously not!!!
Hope ya get sorted gibby!

The mk2 spots are the exact same size but when you fit them 2 of the fixing points will line up but the third won.t but is easy to fabricate an adjoining bracket to make it secure. The mk1 part no. ends with 038 but mk2 end with 040.
I can get mk2 ones for £10 for the set if interested - £5.66 for delivery to your address recorded delivery.
Mk1's waiting on reply from two contracts

Nice one Si, I'm just awaiting Slick to tell me what the part number off ETKA is.

Hi Adam - what else you got kicking around for a cab?

I'll have to check. I'm sure I have most of the lights (front and rear), A set of crystals for the front, but one has a crack in it. Window winder handles. Space saver spare, jack.
I'll dig about next time I'm in the garage.
-
Ads, is that a full set of crystals for the front including inner spots or just two outer lamps ?
-
I had the same problem with a cracked inner spot, but left it about a year as I knew I would eventually get crystals
