Title: Girl In Need
Post by: lindsey73 on 19 May 2003, 00:24
Looks like I am a bit of a rarity on this site and I need some help from you boys in the know.  I have a 1986, 8v, 1.8 gti convertible.  It is called a cc and has the original roof and upholstery which also has the cc logo on it.  It looks like the coco chanel logo.  Some people have said that it is a limited edition or it may stand for colour co-ordinated. Does anyone know any thing about this car and its value as no-one can find it listed on the pricing guides for insurance. Can any of you help a damsel in distress?!

Hi there,
Its definately a coco chanel, I know this because a friend of mine had one, as for info/values I cant help you much, but I do remember VW motoring mag running a feature on cabs and I'm sure it featured one, check out the back issues, hope this helps! :)

Yep, 'old_boy' is right, the 'coco chanel' is a limited edition cabriolet. I was looking into it a while back as I was led to believe that mine might be a limited edition cabrio too. Came across loads of info on the cc but nothing on mine. Later on I'll see if I can dig out the relevant websites I came across for you.
Glad to see this site isn't totally male dominated.  :)

i think that even though it's a limited ed motor, this wouldn't affect the value that much maybe a few hundred quid  over the equivalent  cab if in really good nick.

out of interest, what did you pay for the car?

agreed. nice to see a lady with the same interests as us boy's!!

I bought the aluminium indicator bulbs seperate for a tenner, from the same stall, it gets rid of the orange reflection from the standard bulbs

They do come in clear...........that's what I'm after for mine, as its a white car. We saw them in one of the VW magazines over the 'VW action' weekend.
I think Adam is better with the ones he has bought due to the colour of his car.

On another thing, Adam I tried that concours starter kit on a bit of the Golf today..........brilliant stuff  ;D...........that clay is really weird, but it works, you can really feel it pulling the cr*p out of the paintwork. Went through the whole treatment and it looks great. Did the plastic bag trick going from the bit I did to a bit I hadn't done and it was like going from glass to sandpaper :o
Its expensive, but hopefully it will last a while and justify its cost.......
