Title: DOWNPIPE!!
Post by: Tornado on 28 December 2005, 22:32
Hello there

The downpipe on my 8v digi is knackered.  Iseem to have 2 options standard issue replacement or fancy-dan stainless job.  What results  have people obtained when fitting a manifold? and was it worth it?
The rest of the exhaust is stainless with  a dtm .
Kind regards

Alan

not sure on power improvements, i think the power delivery is slightly smoother and it frees up about 5-9 horses. Although be prepared to pay for it, i think they start at about £350. Yes that is just for the manifold.

Hello again

The standard downpipe has a flexi-pipe. I presume this is something to do with the movement of the engine at power on and off. A manifold is rigid, can  this cause problems or are manufacturers just over cautious?.

Hi there

If t gets anything like 9-15 horses then it is a total bargain!  Buy it

Apparently if you are getting a stainless manifold its wise to get uprated engine mounts as the new manifold could crack otherwise.
