Title: Colour confusion!

My golf gti is a 1991 on a h reg and is blue in colour but almost looks black!  I have a couple of marks to touch up anybody have any idea of what colour this could be?  It is a metalic colour.

Mine sounds the same and is a 1990 Big Bumper 16v..... Royal Blue (Metallic) is the name of the colour. The Paint code from VW is
L OA5 UO2

Im sure royal blue metallic is this colour like my car?....

Mine is much much darker than that and royal blue for sure since I have the original vw paperwork.

 it could be helious blue not sure of the code, but it will be on your details plate under the bonnet .write them all down and take it to an auto paint shop and ask them they should be able to get the right match.

Helious Blue= LA5Y paint code. More than likely that is what you have. Email me at bgodkin@fireflyuk.net and I will send a pic of my car to you. I can't get my webspace figured out so hopefully that will help.

I went to halfords last nite and found the correct colour and it seems to be pacific blue! but thanks for all your help - I needed the paint as some B*****D scratched my drivers door a little!

Helios is the blue/purple metallic

mine is Blue/Black - I guess Royal Blue - and it causes confusion:

my HPI check states my car was resprayed from black to blue sometime in the 90's - but the paint under the underseal and the label inside the boot shows my car is the same colour as it left Wolfsburg.

I thought the lighter blue was called Windsor Blue.

But don't quote me on that



BTW - the car below in my sig is Helios Blue - my first valve  :'( RIP
