Just had a letter thru post from Direct line. Not sure how many other other companys do this or for how long its been going for, but, they are now recognising named drivers no claims history. Im 22 and never had my own insurance, ive always been named driver. As a typical lad in my first 2 years of driving i had 2 bumps which were no claims protected and earnt 6 points with 3 left at present coming off in April. These incidents all occured in the first 2 years of me driving. Ive had my licence now for over 5 years now with no incidents since 2002. So Ive always bn insured as a named driver to keep costs down. But I saw this and was wondering if ne1 else knows about it. If so what are the quotes like so far? Direct line are offering up to 70% discount. Your replys would be gr8!

dunno about that mate, i'm an old fart with full NCB. Just give a few a ring and ask 'em.

sounds pretty good cos i'v been on my dads polocy, but even without that i got a quote for an 8v mk2 at 19 for 1100 on my own, which aint too bad :wink:

i was with diretc line, but they won't insure anyone under 21 on a gli, or 25 on a gti, and won't insure mods.. not even factory standard alloys on a mk2!! needless to say i've since changed insurance companies!
Someone had metnioned this thing about named driver to my little brother, as he's just passed his test and apparently irect line do it, but it also works on teh similar thing that if ur under 25/21 then you will be limited to cars!

Ive been insured with direct line on my gti since i was 23...and on a few other "sports" models before that...all with mods, they have never refused me cover on any of them :huh:
I have shopped around and find that they are pretty much beating everyone else every time for me.. :smug:

I did get a good quote of someone who gave a reduction as I had been insured under my mum I think it was performance direct, try elephant they give really good discounts if you stick a women or a mature (parent) driver as a second driver.
