Hi Folks,
Happy Christmas.
Hope I have not picked on a odd topic (see previous post a few days ago) but thought I would try again to see if anyone could help answer my query about changing the button and plunger bar on the handbrake on my mk4. I have lost the chrome button on my one, got a replacement part which came with the plunger and spring on it.... how do you change them over, dont know the correct procedure on this one... would appreciate some tips / advice. Ta.
I love this car... only had it a few days it so good. Am converted!
Cheers

hi mate, nobody seems to be able to help here, why not go and ask at your local stealers, or try on here next week as its a bit quiet with it being christmas/new year
-
the chrome button on my handbrake pops off regularly it does detach from the black 'inner' button if you know what i mean that goes in the top of the handbrake( without looking i'm sure it is has a couple of ridges or slots and only goes on one way - the chrome bit just slides on). so why not see if you can separate the chrome button from this part you have got and click it onto the existing bit?

ive looked in my haynes manual it doesnt tell you how to take the lever apart just how to remove the whole thing if i were you id just look in the scrappys and get a whole new lever

Hi,
Thanks for the feedback. Think I am gonna try prizing the chrome bit off the one I have and try to click it on. It did look well hooked on though on the part I bought.... like its not ever meant to come off unless broken.. Fortunately its not an expensive part if I bust it. In which case will pop into a dealers and see what their thoughts on it are.
Have not seen the haynes mk4 golf manual...did not know there was one... am I being stoopid in that they are available from Halfords.... ?
Cheers
