Anyone know the spec of those new mini's. I just had one leave me for dust on the sliproad of the M25 and couldnt believe the power of it.
I wasnt trying too hard myself but that little thing definately seemed to have some serious BHP.
-
Probably the super charged cooper, about 164 bhp i think.
-
And light as fock I expect.
And there was me thinking my VR6 just had to hide from Super cars TVRS and Scubby's!!
-
I don't think the mini would beat the vr6 if you put your foot down. I left a mini cooper supercharged for dead in my dads old audi 90 quattro(170 bhp), but it was going round a steep bend!
-
Mini Cooper = 115bhp (0-62 in 9.2s)
Mini Cooper S = 163 bhp (0-62 in 7.4s)
S Works (Supercharged) = 200 bhp (6.7s)

Interesting info! i didn't know there was a 200bhp one, how much? ::)

I have driven a 285BHP Version with NOS. Great fun.

BMW Mini Cooper
Weight (kg - lb):
Manual: 1150 - 2535
Not so light as f?ck boys
std <89 spec golf 16v weighs 960kilos 2115 lbs
geezer was probably on a mission (drive it like you stole it) in a company car - whilst you probably own&love your jamjar
-
Cooper S is 14,600
'Works' conversion is another 3,500.
So 18,100 all in.
-
And that's without the body kit and massive rims.

I just realised this is the 'boat' section.
So your mk3 probably weighs 25% more than a mk2
"who ate all the pies?, who ate all the pies . . . . .?"
-
If the mk3s are boats, what does that make mk4s?

Slight problem with what you're saying. According to evo magazine (the bible as far as performance cars are concerned), a 1988-1992 Golf GTi 16v Mk2 weighs in at 1111Kg. A Mk3 16v weighs in at 1181kg - a gain of 70 kilos, which is nowhere near the 25% you were quoting.
Looking at the numbers actually, there was twice as big a weight jump from Mk1 to Mk2 as there was from Mk2 to Mk3. I wonder if the people who insist on calling the Mk3 a boat realise this - the Golf actually went on its biggest pie-eating binge when the Mk2 came out.

Thats because the mk1 was a cardboard box :-*
