Title: help! stereo only works when i push on key-mk3

my stereo only turns on when i fiddle with the key and push it in a bit??? any ideas i will be runnin a seperate supply if noone can help

sounds like a dodgy connection somewhere to me. either that or a faulty stereo.

having the key in the ignition will supply an ignition feed to the radio, you don't have to turn it. Sounds fine to me?

dude best bet is to run a decent permanent live and fuse it at the battery ive done every car ive ever had not always needed but personaly i think its always the the safest route.sounds like it could be the ignition switch??i got one for a mk1 the other week from german and sweedish cost about £4 i think??

as Dom Mk3 said the stereo does only work when key is in. if you mean its tempermental when its in maybe you have a dodgy key or wiring, might be worth putting a permenant live in
