why would my AMP wiring power cords fuse blow? what could be a problem?

have u been messing around with the wiring at all? I blew my amps wiring fuse by accidentaly touching the housing of the amp with a wire. Or have you accidentally cut a wire connected without disconnecting the battery like I did today?  :grin:

has amp got a fault? or is it working now.

could it have shorted on anything i.e distribution block, amp, has it rubbed through where it goes through bulkhead.

was the stereo loud when it went? ive blown fuses before under extreme load. so check ratings for fuse sizes.

if your amp blows under heavy load then something isn't running right. at the end of the day they have a 30 amp fuse for good reason. don't look past this and fit a 40 amp one!

check all the connections and make sure nothing is shorting out anywhere.

were you playing about with it at the time ie;doing up the live and touched the screw driver on the amp its self?cant see many ways of it happening being earthed is the only way i can see it blowing.

the fuses in the amp never blew only the one by the battery. i ran a slighlty smaller fuse in my power cable to protect it as there was a huge drain on the system i was running a 60amp fuse where it should have been 80amp.  but then i was taking over 1.5k rms through a 4 gauge cable. should have run 0 gauge really:)

you can't produce 1500w RMS with a 60 or 80 amp fuse.
the logic is 14.4(volts) x 'the fuse in the amp' ie 104.17A = 1500w RMS

but then roughly half is lost to heat...

anyway, I'm not in the mood to argue on this one. It just makes me laugh when you see a motorworld amp with 1500 WATTS stamped on it and it's only got a 30A fuse.

my amp was birth sheeted over 1350wrms.
im not a tech wizard like you are apparently, but the way you describe my system would have meant it had about 400w and it kicked out mid 145 db which would simply have been amazing.
